What does it mean to fear God?

Psalm128:1 says this: “Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.”

This verse shows us clearly, that the mark of someone who fears the Lord is obedience to his commands. By ‘fear’ the Bible doesn’t mean panicked terror, but rather means ‘to hold in great reverence and awe’ – it means to be overwhelmed by the majesty and power of God.

If we truly fear the Lord in this way, than it follows that we will be obedient to Him in the way we live our lives. If we live God’s way, we are truly blessed as His way is the best way.
